Class Descriptions
Modified Primary Series (MPS)(Level 1 /2): A great class for beginners and all levels, the MPS builds strength, endurance and flexibility as students move through a condensed version of the Primary Series. This class prepares students for the entire Primary Series at a slower, more manageable pace.
Primary Series (Level 2): Known as “Yoga Chikitsa,” or Yoga Therapy, this traditional series of postures is known as the most healing of all practices. This sequence heals and calms the mind through a moving, breathing meditation. It also restores flexibility, detoxifies internal organs and increases muscle tone. (Student should feel comfortable with the MPS before taking this class.)
Rocket I (Level 2): The Rocket is an amazing, playful and unique sequence of postures created by Larry Schultz, founder of It’s Yoga, San Francisco. The Rocket features poses from the first and second series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and includes a mild mix of arm balances and inversions. Though not recommended for the very beginner, this class is great for all levels, as modifications are given for more challenging postures. Be ready to sweat, smile and feel rejuvenated!
Mixed Level Vinyasa (All Levels, but NOT for very beginner): This dynamic class seamlessly moves through postures from various forms of yoga to strengthen and tone the body, while also calming and clearing the mind. Since all levels are encouraged in this class, modifications will be given for postures to suit the beginner or seasoned practitioner. (Student should have some yoga experience to take this class.)
Slow Vinyasa Flow (All Levels): Slow it down and move deeper into healing hip openers, twists and bends with this slower Vinyasa class. Perfect for students wishing for a less rigorous practice and /or for those looking to heal their bodies after a long weekend run!
Yoga Strength (Level 2): This class is designed to enhance the yoga practice of level 2 and 3 students, but all levels are welcome for the challenge! Build core strength, endurance, and technique in this empowering class. The class will begin with Sun Salutations and a flow of standing postures and also include specific "core strengthening" postures. Drills that will enhance your ability to execute arm balances and inversions will also be given. (You do not have to be able to do arm balances and inversions to take this class.)
Relaxation & Meditation: Relax and unwind in this slower paced class. Deep, conscious breathing and attention to the present moment are encouraged as students move gently through flowing as well as restorative postures. Poses are held longer to allow the body to relax into them. Soothing music, aromatherapy, gentle massage, and use of props encourage total relaxation. A guided meditation period of 10-15 minutes is incorporated into each class. Suitable for all levels of practitioner.
